Volunteer Operations

Thank you for your interest with the Columbia Fire Department. We have a total of thirty-two stations in Richland County. A following is a quick breakdown of their locations: inside the city limits there are twelve (12) stations in the county there is a total of thirteen (13) stations at which you may volunteer your services.
The Columbia Fire Department is a combination department with approximately 450 career members and an allotment for 260 volunteer members at which time there are 150 volunteer members.
Our vision is to be the home of the model combination career-volunteer Fire / Rescue system, but to do that, we need your help! We are excited about the prospect of having you as a team member. If you decide to make the commitment to your friends, neighbors and your community, please complete this application package and submit it for further consideration.
Upon submission of your application, it will be reviewed with a criminal background and driving record check being performed. If accepted you will be notified to attend an orientation meeting that is held monthly to receive additional information and what will be expected of you as a volunteer member of our Department. If issues arise during the review of your application, you will be notified that your application is on-hold pending a further inquiry by this office or it has been rejected.

As a volunteer, we provide your required training and offer you a vast array of benefits as well as the possiblility of advancement to a caree position.
