What we do
The Logistics Division supports the Columbia Fire Department mission from its location at 1901 Harden Street. This location was the former Station 11 from 1953 to 1994. The Logistics Chief has logistical responsibility for 32 Stations, Training Division, and Fire Prevention.
Logistics provides supplies, equipment, and services to support daily operations. Logistics coordinates with other City Of Columbia and Richland County divisions to obtain and provide services. Also under the Logistics Division is the Fire Flow Group. The group is made up of a Fire Hydrant Supervisor and 8 Fire Flow Technicians. The group works to provide the citizens and department with a resource (hydrants) that is at a high state of readiness. The group tests, documents, and conducts light routine maintenance on over 16,000 Fire Hydrants in the Midlands.
Another important component of the Logistics Division is the SCBA Technician, who tests and maintains over 300 SCBAs for the department as well as support compressors and cascade systems. The Logistics Division supports the mission of the Columbia Fire Department with equipment and accountability.
